Introduction
Yash Vardhan Darolia
B.Com
I’ve completed my schooling from St James’ School and I am currently pursuing B.Com Honors from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Right from my formative years in high school to this hour every milestone in my life has nurtured me to be the person I am today. Being a sports enthusiast sports has disciplined me and inculcated a sense of sincerity in me. These qualities have helped to shape the approach to my work and lifestyle today. In my school days, I was a part of the cricket, football, athletics team and also captained the school hockey team.
I primarily look after the logistics in our company Leonard Exports. We are a company based in the logistics and transportation sector and are involved in the handling and transportation of fly ash to various cement companies, RMC’s and brick making units situated not only in India but also in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Being one of the pioneers in Eastern India in the fly ash industry with an experience of over 2 decades we have allotments with various central ,state and private owned power plants like DVC, NTPC, WBPDCL, Hinduja Power, Tata Power and Reliance Power. The operations are spread across West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand in the East, Uttar Pradesh in the North and Andhra Pradesh in the South and are carried out by road, rail and river. We have our own fleet of vehicles ranging from six wheelers to eighteen Wheelers, comprising of bulkers, containers and dumpers.
Most of my work revolves around the operations of our vehicles which include the live tracking of vehicles, the routine paper renewal, the achievement of targets with regard to the quantum of business and maintaining the delivery schedule.

On graduating from school, I founded an application based start-up, ‘Foodstirr’- aimed towards revolutionizing thetraditional dining experience. For the first few months of my graduate degree, I thrived on the toil of maintaining myacademics, my daily work in my fathers’ business, and my start-up. In due course of time, I realized how myopic Ihad been. The application wasn’t going to survive the existing market trends. I then took the tough decision ofwinding up Foodstirr.
I decided to not let the inevitable self-doubt get to me, and immersed myself in my father’s business. However, thiswas not to be an easy route; I faced several obstacles. My father and several senior employees had little to nobelief in an inexperienced college student and did not give me any tangible responsibilities in the first year. I wasnot disgruntled and remained a keen learner. Unfortunately, the business entered stormy seas with the prevalenteconomic downswing. At this crucial juncture, I matched shoulders with my father and helped him steer theorganization through several tough dealings. My grit and perseverance paid off, and I came to be acknowledged formy hard work and intelligence.
The transition from the pessimism of winding up a dream at 18 to the optimism of steering a resilient enterprise at21 has been a thoroughly educational experience, leaving me excited for the future. The past three years of my lifehave made me a disciplined and sincere person, giving me the ability to be a tough businessman and curiousstudent through 18 hours of academics and work, every day.
