Dr. Issa Fathima Jasmine is a consultant orthodontist by profession and a social activist by passion. Her academic degree says she is an Orthodontist but she has a varied career that includes being a social activist, interior designer, and chief human resource officer. Being multi-passionate, she enjoys being a traveler, a counselor, an emcee, an amateur doodle artist, and a fitness enthusiast. She is a postgraduate in the field of Orthodontics and also holds a diploma in Hospital Administration and Medical Informatics. She has been trained in Aesthetic Dentistry from the reputed New York University, USA. Additionally, she has also worked as an Assistant Professor in a private college in Chennai and has been consistently rated as the Best Teacher. she has a keen interest in public service at a very early age. Seeing how food wastage occurs every day in our own households, she started the concept “Ayyamittu Unn” through “The Public Foundation” which address food wastage and hunger problem prevailing in society.
The Public Foundation is a not-for-profit distribution enterprise that serves the community by redistributing excess food with its signature project called “Ayyamittu Unn” by installing community fridges in public. There is also a "Charity counter" set up next to the fridge where you can help your neighbors and communities by donating your gently used clothes, shoes, toys, vessels, and books. So far, within the 4yrs of starting the project, she was able to redistribute 3.3 Crores worth of food that would have otherwise gone into the bin, and was able to collect more than 87 tons of clothes, 2 tons of books, shoes, and toys and has been channelized to reach the right hands. She has installed 13 fridges across Chennai, Vellore, and Bangalore feeding an average of 500 - 700 hungry souls every day.
