Mr. Dipak J. Barai, Chairman & Managing Director of Delta Global Allied Limited
Born in 1959 in Kolkata, India, into a Gujarati business family, Mr. Dipak J. Barai began his journey in the business world early, interning at his family’s office at just 14. Through these formative years, he absorbed key business principles and practices. He later pursued Commerce and Economics at Mumbai University, and at the age of 21, made the bold decision to establish his own business, stepping away from the family enterprise. This led to the founding of Sea Hawk Cargo Carriers Pvt. Ltd. in 1983, based in Mumbai. Under his leadership, Sea Hawk rapidly expanded its clientele to include national and international companies, including Japanese, Korean, and European multinationals.
Building on Sea Hawk's success, Mr. Barai ventured into the construction industry in 1991, completing major projects in the power and industrial sectors. By 1993, with full control over Sea Hawk, he established Delta Global Allied Limited to broaden the company's offerings across engineering construction, logistics, and trading. By 1996, Delta had diversified into civil, mechanical, and electrical works, undertaking high-profile projects in India and the UAE, including the record-setting completion of a combined cycle power plant within 16 months.
Despite a promising start, Delta encountered significant challenges in the early 2000s due to unforeseen project disruptions in India and the UAE. Determined to rebuild, Mr. Barai restructured Delta with the support of his sons, Vinit and Punit, who had recently completed their studies in the USA. In 2011, Delta moved its headquarters to Pune, marking a new phase of growth.
From 2011, Delta Global Allied Limited expanded rapidly, strengthening its network with Japanese multinationals and launching consultancy services to assist Japanese SMEs entering the Indian market. By 2022, Delta had established key strategic alliances, including a partnership with a prominent South Asian utility company to support power and industrial plant operations in India.
In 2023, Delta expanded its international presence by opening an office in Japan to further collaborate with Japanese firms. This milestone earned Delta recognition in the CII’s “Compendium of Successful Stories on Business Cooperation between India and Japan” as one of the top 50 companies promoting Indo-Japanese trade. Today, Delta Global Allied Limited operates across multiple sectors and is involved in national initiatives valued at $5 trillion USD, with a vision to complete these projects by 2030.
