The company operates from its original facility in Thodukadu Village, Thiruvallur District, and has recently opened a new facility in Santhavellore, Sunguvarchatram, Kanchipuram District. This new facility has been operational for just one month, marking an exciting chapter in the company's journey. With Mr. Dhanasekaran’s 18 years of fabrication experience and a skilled engineering team, J J Engineering employs 100 workers, including 25 permanent staff members.
J J Engineering engages in four key activities: Medium and machined fabricated components, Steel Structurals, PEB Fabrication & Erection, and Tanks & Vessels, including IBR and Non-IBR piping. Over 60% of the company's sales come from Structural fabrications, underscoring its strength in this area. The company aims to increase activity across all divisions while ensuring customer satisfaction and sustainability. In the long term, J J Engineering plans to maintain its business levels while expanding its portfolio in core areas, including equipment and turnkey solutions for plants.
The company has developed strong partnerships with industry leaders like BHEL, BGR Energy, and L&T, positioning itself for continued growth, especially in the power sector and PEB construction. Mr. E. Dhanasekaran, the Managing Director of J J Engineering, is a self-made engineer who has achieved remarkable success despite humble beginnings. Born in 1974 in the small village of Thodukadu, he completed his elementary education before attending Chaiyar Christian Boarding School for his secondary studies. After school, he briefly assisted his family with farming before venturing into the engineering field.
Mr. Dhanasekaran's engineering career began as a helper in a local company, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience. Understanding the importance of skill development, he enrolled in a welding course, which proved crucial to his career. After completing the ITI welding course, he secured a subcontractor position with his former employer.
His talent quickly caught the attention of major players in the industry, including Axel India and Ashok Leyland. As his reputation grew, so did his team, expanding from six to twenty members as they successfully tackled complex tasks.
In 1995, he joined Bharani Steels, specializing in pressure vessels and heavy structures, where he gained further expertise working on various projects. In 2005, Mr. Dhanasekaran took a significant step by establishing his own workshop, J J Engineering. Despite initial challenges, including a failed partnership, he launched the company in 2006, securing major contracts from clients like Saint Gobain, Hyundai, and Samsung.
Under his leadership, J J Engineering has achieved significant milestones, including the fabrication of 1800 tons for Hyundai Mobis within tight deadlines. The company has also received accolades, including a Certificate of Appreciation from FLSmidth for its contributions to the NMDC Donimalai KIOP project.
Today, J J Engineering thrives, backed by a new plant in Sunguvarchatram and a steady stream of orders. Mr. Dhanasekaran's resilience and commitment to quality continue to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
