Chenna Keshava, the Managing Partner of Sree Devi Engineering, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1995 from Sidda Ganga University, Tumkur, Karnataka. He began his career as an engineer at Tatra Trucks India Ltd and later at Volvo Trucks India Ltd. With a vision to integrate new technologies into manufacturing services, particularly in powder coating, he sought guidance from his father, who encouraged him to pursue the idea. Starting with an initial investment of 25 lakhs and a team of 10 employees, the company faced significant challenges due to limited market demand. However, with perseverance, the business gradually gained traction.
A turning point came when Ashok Leyland Ltd and TVS Motor showed interest in the company’s upgraded powder coating process. After evaluating its quality and cost-effectiveness, they transitioned from traditional painting methods to powder coating. Recognizing the potential, Sree Devi Engineering continued to enhance its capabilities. With 18 years of industry experience, the company shifted focus to manufacturing, conducting thorough market research before taking on a challenging project in the braking system segment for Ashok Leyland.
By 2018, efforts were underway to establish infrastructure, which was fully operational by January 2020. After successful testing and certification, production commenced, only to be disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite setbacks, operations resumed, and by December 2022, full-scale supply was restored. With growing demand, the company expanded its services to multiple Ashok Leyland units and acquired additional clients. From an annual turnover of 25 lakhs in 2020 with 15 employees, Sree Devi Engineering has grown to a 40-crore enterprise in 2024, employing 150 people.
